Gratitude is the winners’ attitude. It’s not only a particular time of year when we need to show it, but some days are more special than others and that’s when we need to remind ourselves what are the things we should really be grateful for. Here’s a short list.
Your Health
There’s never been a more relevant time to be thankful for your health. Being in the middle of a global pandemic means that everyone is at risk physically, mentally and emotionally. If you are lucky enough to have no complaints on any of those levels, then you should certainly count it as a blessing.
Your Friends and Family
Many people, sadly, will spend the holidays without their loved ones. If you have the privilege to hug and kiss the most important people in your life, say a big Thank You to the stars.
Your Home
You can’t even imagine how many individuals and families have no shelter. Having a warm, secure home to come to is a big reason to be thankful today.
Your Cleaner
Your domestic cleaner is a true blessing in so many ways. They give you the most valuable gift of all – the gift of time. Thanks to these professionals you can enjoy doing the things you love and be with the people who are most important to you.
Your Job
We are used to complaining about our jobs because they are stressful or tiring, but we should be grateful for them instead. The world we live in requires us to make a living in order to survive. If not for that job you sometimes say you hate, you would be in a much worse position today.
The Food on Your Table
With 10% of the world’s population starving you should be very thankful for every bite you get to put in your mouth. Make it your resolution not to waste food and appreciate everything that you are able to put on your table.
Sometimes the most important things we should count as blessings are not objects and do not have huge monetary value. They look simple and we often ignore them. That makes us unhappy and dissatisfied with what we have and what we have achieved. Reminding ourselves that we are richer than we realise is the key to living a fulfilling life.
Once you adopt gratitude as your daily attitude you will open up the gates to receiving more blessings. The more you appreciate what you have the more you will gain. The more thankful you are for how far you’ve come, the further you will go.
