Why Regular Domestic Cleaning is not Enough
Regular cleaning is a great way to maintain order and a certain level of cleanliness in your home. It has many benefits which spread beyond personal space hygiene and health standards. But as great as they are, weekly or fortnightly cleans are simply not enough. To ensure a truly safe environment and the continuous wellbeing of your household, you will need deep cleaning every now and then.
What is Regular Cleaning Good For
Regular cleans build a routine. They bring order not only in your house, but also in your life. Whether you have the time and discipline to do it yourself, or you have it done by someone professional, it’s part of your weekly schedule. You become much more organised. And speaking of organisation, regular cleaning is a great supportive tool for sticking to any organisational systems you may have at home.
Frequent maintenance of the most used surfaces and areas decreases the chance of bacterial contamination and the spread of infections. Furthermore, it slows down the build-up of dust and allergens in fabric, such as your carpets, upholstery and curtains, as well as on other hard surfaces.
What Regular Cleaning Cannot Do
The issue with regular cleans is that they are not thorough. There are places that are not touched on a weekly basis because they are rarely used. Your pantry, for example, gets organised and the cupboards cleaned from the inside only a few times a year. It happens during deep cleaning.
Large appliances like the oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and the tumble dryer also don’t get cleaned every week or every two weeks. However, to function properly, they need attention and appropriate maintenance as per manufacturer recommendations. We would say, at least at the change of each season, although for some, it may be required more often.
While regular vacuuming can reduce the amount of dust, allergens and other harmful agents being trapped in the fibres of the carpet or upholstery, it cannot stop the process. It also cannot get rid of 100% of the particles that ended up at the bottom. They can create a serious health hazard for you, your family members and even pets.
Without professional carpet and upholstery cleaning, you will soon notice it is harder to fall asleep at night, your energy levels have decreased and even breathing has become more challenging.
Why Do you Need Deep Cleaning
Like we just mentioned, deep cleans have a massive positive effect on your physical and mental health. They are also a good pest prevention measure. Not all the dirt is visible with a naked eye, but it still can be an attractive meal for a number of insects and larger uninvited guests.
Additionally, deep cleaning provides an excellent opportunity for decluttering. Releasing physical space and perhaps giving back to the community could stem from this simple activity. Many of the items you no longer use or need could be given to charity.
Last but not least, disinfection is most effective after a deep clean. Any surface that you try to sanitise without thoroughly cleaning it first, will only end up with the dirt and germs sealed.
So, in light of all of the above, when was the last time you had your home deep cleaned?
